Our landlord left us a $500 gift

Whatup Reader!

Gonna hit you with a quick announcement and then we’ll hop into story time.

Ya’ll already know that I’m incredibly protective of my people and to that end I make it a point to only put the best stuff in front of you.

I only promote businesses I trust and products I personally use, and this time it’s a double win because not only do I get to share a quality resource, I get to support my best friend.

My bestie, JillFit, is running a free 3-part live virtual event that starts THIS Thursday, breaking down the exact steps she’d take if she had to start over today and build an online coaching business from scratch. All of the deets can be found here, but to answer the questions I already know that you have: The event is FREEE99, recordings WILL be sent out afterwards, and Jill will be inviting those who want more mentorship to join FBA (Fitness Business Accelerator) at the end but there is ZERO obligation to join and it will have no impact on what you’ll be able to take away from the training. This ain’t no bait and switch bullshit.

If you’re even a little bit interested, smash the Maestro Green button below, read the info page, and save your spot. What do you have to lose?

Ok, on to today’s story.

If you follow me on Instagram, then perhaps you saw that this past weekend I got to play Bob the Builder as I refurbished a 3-burner Weber Genesis grill that our landlord left for us when we moved in last year.

For the past 5 years I’ve had a much smaller Coleman portable grill that has served me extremely well, but between the igniter going bad and the realization that a bigger cooking area would be super helpful when hosting guests, I decided to tackle the big Weber.

I documented the entire refurb in my Stories, which included a SUPER deep cleaning and replacing the burner tubes, the flavorizer bars, the heat deflectors, the grates, and the full igniter kit. I also decided to give Webby a little facelift and replace the knobs, and because Lex has been asking about smash burgers, I swapped out one of the stainless-steel grates for a cast iron griddle.

The whole project cost me about $300, and the hardest part was removing the corroded-beyond-belief screws that were holding the burner tubes in. That, paired with a single trip to Home Depot and few hours of elbow grease rounded out the total investment, which to me was well worth it for a grill that goes for $800 brand new.

So, what’s the Maestrofied lesson in all of this?

No, it’s not about making things last. Though, feel free to take that if it serves you.

The Maestrofied lesson I want to share came from the handful of DMs I received this past weekend, with one dope InstaHomie graciously agreeing to allow me to share the convo with all of ya’ll:

The lesson: Your actions will always be infinitely more inspiring than your words. If you want people to do something, do it yourself first.

Think about the things you’ve been inspired to do by watching those around you.

I already know that the Olympics inspired a whole bunch of people to try a whole bunch of things.

Ilona Maher out there inspiring women to do anything and everything. #Bless

Your actions will always be infinitely more inspiring than your words. If you want people to do something, do it yourself first.

Think about the things that others have been inspired to do by watching you.

Your kids picking up the pair of dumbbells in the garage because they see you working out at home.

Your friends buying an RV after seeing all the trips that you and your family take and hearing about how much fun you have each time.

Your actions will always be infinitely more inspiring than your words. If you want people to do something, do it yourself first.

That’s all I’ve got for you for today, Reader.

Go forth and do the thing(s).

It’s inspiring.

Maestro out.

Do the thing.
